Ramesh Jha Mahila College, the only constituent women’s college in Saharsa(Koshi Division) is situated in the heart of Saharsa town linking Railway Station and NH-107, Saharsa, the gateway of rail route for entire Koshi region is well connected to the state capital and other major cities by Rail and Road.
The town is famous for one of the Shaktipith “Ugratara Asthan†at Mahishi about 17KM away in the west. Ramesh Jha Mahila College, founded by Late Ramesh Jhaon 1st February 1972, became an affiliated unit of L.N. Mithila University, Darbhanga in 1973. It became a constitudent unit of L.N.Mithila University, Darbhanga in 1980. It remains as a constituent unit of L.N.Mithila University, Darbhanga till the B.N.Mandal University, Madhepura came into existence in 1992.
The Ramesh Jha Mahila College is known for its holistic approach to women’s education with serene salubrious ambition inside the campus which facilitates a proper environment for education and a fruitful meaning of life of women’s as the institution is famous for imparting higher education in the faculty of Arts and Science. Higher education assumes tremendous importance in the development of nation. Sustainability issues have forced higher education system around the world to rethink their missions and to restructure their courses, research programs and employability Challenges.
As Swami Vivekananda says- “We want that education by which character is formed, Strenth of mind is increased, the intellect is expanded and by which one can stand on one’s own but. Education is the manifestation of the perfection already in man.†So Education is the wheel of progress and the mast essential factor for human resource development. It ensures the survival of the human race, maintains intellectual and cultural traditions and help in developing enlightened civilizations.
It increases the mental, spiritual, emotional and social potentials of man our aim of higher education is to develop mental faculties of the student to respect every aspest in the life that they encounter and prepare them to handle the same. In present structure of higher education our challenges, Threats and opportunities have increased. As a consequence, The higher education in contemporary global scenario seems to have lost the ground in terms of Ethos and morals, Focus has shifted toward employability, Placements and compensation schemes in the contemporary higher education.
In this context of commercialization of education a need to reevaluate the concept of Ethics and morals in higher education institutions is identified.
