ABOUT US

Karnataka Samskrit University (KSU) was established by the State Government of Karnataka in the year 2010 through the Karnataka Samskrita Vishwavidyala Act 2009 (KSV Act) passed by the Karnataka State Legislature. The university is currently recognized by the University Grants Commission under section 2F and has been accorded the 12(B) status of the UGC Act, 1956.

KSU has been formed exclusively for the development of Samskrit language. Samskrit language has a rich tradition of knowledge synthesis, which has immensely contributed to the overall development of all branches of learning. It is the only oldest living language in the world, with rich repertoire of knowledge in the domains of Poetry, Logic, Grammar, Philosophy, Aesthetics, Science & Technology, Mathematics and allied subjects. In-depth research in these domains can be achieved only through thorough knowledge of Samskrit language, learning and research. KSU has been established with this objective of promoting higher learning, and research in Samskrit language & literature and its relevance in modern world.


The objective of Karnataka Samskrit University is to attract students to pursue study of various branches of Samskrit language, literature and inter-disciplinary research in Samskrit and modern science. The programs offered by the University cover a wide range of subjects in Samskrit language and literature, traditional shastras, advanced research and short time career-oriented programs.

One hundred acres of land has been allotted for the University in Kuduru, Hobli, Magadi Taluk, Ramanagar District, Karnataka. Construction of the new campus has begun on this land allotted by the Karnataka Government.

The University currently includes three constituent Samskrit Colleges, two constituent research centres, 10 aided affiliated colleges and 20 unaided affiliated colleges and 4 government colleges under its ambit. There are also 271 aided and 379 unaided Veda and Samskrita Pathashalas spread over the State. The university has had 3891 students studying on the campus and around 35,000 students in affiliated colleges and other campuses. Till date, nine convocations have been conducted where degrees have been awarded to students.

To become a world class university with focus on preservation and promotion of Samskrit language and literature through quality education and research using ancient wisdom and modern outlook.

Mission

KSU was established with the objective of linking ancient Indian knowledge systems with modern science and technology. The university is committed to spearhead research in this direction in order to establish the relevance of our ancient knowledge repository in the modern age with concrete examples. The university aims to create a bridge between ancient knowledge & modern science and transform itself into a premier Institution of Interdisciplinary Studies, multi-disciplinary Studies and Research.
