The Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC Pune) is one of the prestigious medical colleges of India. AFMC Pune was established in the year 1948. The Armed Force Medical college Pune is managed by the Indian Armed Forces.
The institution has been ranked consistently 2nd best medical college in the country by various university ranking organizations.
The college is affiliated with Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik, and is approved by the Medical Council of India (MCI).
Admission to MBBS courses is on the basis of an objective type written examination conducted in 28 centers across India. This is followed by an interview and then, after the final selection, 130 students are admitted to the college. 25 seats are reserved for girls. All these students are liable to serve in the medical services of the armed forces on successful completion of MBBS for a minimum of seven years.
