S. NIJALINGAPPA INSTITUTE OF DENTAL SCIENCES & RESEARCH, GULMARG is managed by Hyderabad Karnataka Education Society. It was initially affiliated to the Gulbarga University but was later transferred to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science Bangalore.

It aims at imparting ethical and value-based dental education in order to churn out professionals competent enough to serve humanity. They also aim at making dental healthcare better in the country by performing research in the field of dentistry, medicine, and information technology. Their mission is to make this institute reach the center of excellence in dental higher education as per the global standards.

The institution has also been involved in various community service activities. It has adopted Venkat Bennur village, where every month their staff with Mobile Dental Unit visits to conduct treatment and check-up at camp.

Boys Hostel: The college has a boys hostel facility which provides good hostel accommodation for the students.

Girls Hostel: The college has a girl's hostel facility which provides good hostel accommodation for the students.

The hostel provided for both girls and boys. Student from a distant place is given more preference on a first-come-first-served basis. The hostel is well furnished for students to accommodate more than 500 students.
