The Chennai Rifle Club came into existence in the year 1952 with a small number of Members for the purpose of creating a spirit of sportsmanship, discipline, self reliance and self-defense in any emergency vide a Government Order of the then Government of Madras. Since then the Chennai Rifle Club is functioning and has grown in strength and is continuing to be an active institution promoting the shooting sport in the city of Chennai.
The Club
possesses 2 Shooting Ranges one at Egmore for Rifle & Pistol events and
the other at Alamadi for Shotgun events. The Range at Egmore is situated
within the compound of the Old Commissioner of Police office Complex at
Egmore and it has a 50 Meters range and a 25 Meters Ranges and an Air
Conditioned 10 Meter Indoor Range for Air Rifle and Air Pistol events
consisting of 36 Shooting Lanes .
The Chennai Rifle Club also boasts of State of the Art Electronic Targets
for 10M Range for Air Rifle and Air Pistol events on par with International
Shooting ranges, being the first of its kind in the State of Tamilnadu.
