Prof. Bhanu Awasthi, Principal Dr. RP Govt. Medical College Tanda (HP), an Orthopaedician by training has been working in the field of medical education since 1996 in different capacities.  Prior to assuming the office of the Principal, he was working as Professor and Head Department of Orthopaedics at Dr. RP Govt. Medical College Tanda (HP). In between he also headed the Hospital administration as Senior Medical Superintendent, a period which is being remembered for a number of reforms he initiated in streamlining the hospital function.Prof. Awasthi has been and continues to be actively involved with innovation in medical research and has more than 50 publications to his credit in national and international peer reviewed journals. Characterising morphometry of human skeleton to facilitate development of indigenous prosthesis leading to better post surgical outcomes in patients being treated for musculoskeletal injuries has been his domain for research work in last few years. 

In addition his work on injury prevention through development of a local variant of Haddon’s matrix will help medics working in similar setups understand risk for injuries in a better way.Being an academic at heart, Prof. Awasthi has been and continues to be a strong proponent of using medical education technologies for better transfer of knowledge and skills to medical students. He was one of the first medical teachers to receive training in medical education, much before it was made mandatory by Medical Council of India.Prof. Awasthi is an assessor with the MCI and has been deputed by the MCI on many occasions. Under his stewardship the institution has continued to grow by leaps and bounds and was ranked as 31st best medical institution in the Country.With the single line motto of “To serve mankind without Prejudices” Prof. Awasthi believes in “Let the work do the talking”.
