ABOUT US

Sardar Patel Memorial College, Udantputi is named after Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel great freedom, the first deputy prime minister and one of the architects of modern India. Sometimes, the college is referred by its abbreviated name S.P.M. College, Udantpuri. It was established in 1974 on the ruins of landmark Udantpuri University which was founded by the king of Pal dynasty Gopala in 8 the century AD. That’s why; the college has become famous with the suffix “Udanpuri”. The university witnessed an era of scholastic achievement in Buddhist teachings, where at least 12000 scholars researched and studied at a time. The college was established by local philanthropists to impart holistic education to the deprived and poor budding youths of the society. It was converted into a constituent unit of Magadh University, Bodh Gaya in 1980. The college has become a constituent unit of Patliputra University, Patna since March 2018. The college is functioning from its new campus situated near Mani Ram Akhara and Badi Dargah, the sacred shrine of the Sufi saint Sheikh Sharfuddin Yahaya, Maneri. Biharsharif is a unique socio-cultural structure e.g. a mixture of Hindu and Islamic culture.

Recently, the college has become a constituent unit of Patliputra University, Patna which was established on 18th March 2018, by the order of the Government of Bihar, vide Letter/memo no. 15/M1-71/2016-700, dated 09.04.2018. The entire population of Biharsharif is known for harmony, unity, and service to the nation. The people of this region have been excelling in achievements in the field of arts, science, trade, and agriculture.
Recently, the college has been selected as the model college by the Government of Bihar under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA). The college is committed to the core values of NAAC. The college not only ensures the academic development of the students but also provides them with opportunities to prove themselves by means of extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. Moreover, in the field of sports, the college has made a name for itself. So far 30 students of the college have won the gold medal, silver medal, etc. The college has well 2 equipped gymnasium by which students are benefited. The college works hard for the promotion of cultural activities. The career counseling center makes its presence felt by providing necessary information and guidance to the students when required. NCC and NSS are very active and dynamic in this institution. The ultimate goal of this institution is to fill the students with creative potentiality, intellectual humility, and ethical profundity.
