UEM Kolkata was established in 2014 by Act No 25 of 2014 of the Govt of West Bengal under the able leadership of Edu-Entrepreneur Prof. Dr. Satyajit Chakrabarti. Being located in New Town, the Smart City in Eastern India and very near to the Netaji Subhash International Airport, the students of the University are exposed to the top corporates. UEM Kolkata has stood as one of the top 10 institutes of India including all IITs and all NITs of the country in the NPTEL program ranked by IIT Kharagpur and IIT Chennai. The IEM UEM group is an acclaimed educational group amongst today's industry-centered academic training organizations. IEM has set sublime standards in addressing the technical and managerial resource shortage in the new era of dynamic globalization. Unnat Bharat Abhiyan

A flagship programme of MHRD, Govt of India.

IIT, Delhi is the National Coordinator of the programme .UEMK is one of the selected few Universities in the Country for project implementation.

 Under the UBA program, all participating Institutes are adopting a cluster of five villages in consultation with districts collectors for rural development.

UEM, Kolkata adopted 5 villages namely Patharghata, Thakdari, Khariberia from North 24-Parganas and Kanthalberia & Kulberia from South 24-Parganas to look after the Water Management, Basic Amenities and sustainable energy of those villages.

About 30 students from various students’ chapters are involved in this programme for services to society and community.

University provided financial and learning support for our teachers during pandemic. Not a single person was asked to leave and no deduction of salary and other benefits was made and teachers were provided reimbursements for their medical bills and students were provided with freeships if parents or earning member was lost during COVID. Coursera campus edition was taken for teachers learning during pandemic and all teachers have completed various certificate courses from leading universities of the world.Almost 1300 events like seminars, webinars, FDPs, lectures from researchers and invited lectures from leading academicians were conducted in last 2 years which provided a better environment of learning and skilling students and teachers. Even now University is conducting at least one event daily either cultural, technical, webinar, seminar or any FDP session.
