Danylo Halytskyi Lviv National Medical University is one of the leading medical universities with a long history and glorious traditions. Subordinated to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.According to the performance indicators of Danylo Halytsky LNMU, it occupies leading positions in the rankings among higher education institutions and higher medical educational institutions of Ukraine.

In August 2020, according to the consolidated rating of the Information Resource "Osvita.ua", Lviv National Medical University named after Danylo Halytsky took 1st place in the TOP-10 best medical schools in Ukraine. Also, our University in the TOP-200 became the sixth among about 250 domestic higher education institutions and the second in the western region.In August 2020, at the Eleventh International Exhibition "Modern Educational Institutions" (the event was postponed from March 12-14 in connection with the introduction of quarantine throughout Ukraine to prevent the spread of coronavirus COVID-19) Lviv National Medical University named after Danylo Halytsky awarded honorary awards: Grand Prix "Leader of Higher Education of Ukraine", a diploma for active participation in the presentation of achievements in the modernization of national education and the certificate "Quality of scientific publications". 

Rector of LNMU named after Danylo Halytsky, Academician of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Professor Borys Zimenkovsky was awarded a Diploma for active participation in the development of the modern national education system.In January 2020, the Information System "Vstup.OSVITA.UA" published an annual ranking of higher education institutions based on the results of the admission campaign. According to him, LNMU named after Danylo Halytsky ranks first among the free educational institutions of Lviv region in terms of the average score of external examinations of entrants who were enrolled in the budget form of education, among medical institutions of higher education in Ukraine - this is the third result. In general, according to this indicator, LNMU. Danylo Halytsky is the sixth among 224 higher education institutions in Ukraine. 

According to another indicator - the number of students enrolled in education at the expense of the state budget is the second among medical universities in Ukraine.In November 2019, for significant contribution to the development of science in Ukraine, Danylo Halytskyi Lviv National Medical University received the Web of Science Awards 2019 and was recognized as a leader in the impact of scientific publications in the field of pharmacology and toxicology.In October 2019, at the Eleventh International Exhibition "Innovation in Modern Education" Lviv National Medical University named after Danylo Halytsky was awarded a Gold Medal and Diploma in the nomination "Innovative activities of educational institutions - a resource for quality education" and Diploma - presentation of educational innovations and active participation in development of national education.

Educational and scientific achievements of the University staff are annually presented at international and state educational, medical, pharmaceutical exhibitions, where they are awarded medals, diplomas and other honors.Today Lviv National Medical University named after Danylo Halytsky unites 6 faculties, medical college, 79 departments, 14 educational buildings, Dental Medical Center, training and production pharmacy, training simulation center, botanical garden, CNDL and laboratory of industrial toxicology, research institute epidemiology and hygiene, research center for testing anticancer drugs, scientific library, 9 dormitories, student food complex, 4 museums, amateur art groups, 3 of which have the title of People's, sports and health camp "Medic".The annual contingent of the University is about 20,000 people, including 6,273 students, 1,164 interns, 11,593 cadets FPDO.For high achievements in education, research and public work, the best students are awarded Academic Scholarships: Scholarships of the President of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the Mykola Amosov Scholarship.Scientific and pedagogical work is provided by 1421 full-time scientific, scientific-pedagogical and pedagogical workers, including 177 doctors of sciences and 755 candidates of sciences, including 133 professors, 401 associate professors.

Among the teaching staff of the University - 1 corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, 2 academicians and 2 corresponding members of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, 14 academicians of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, 7 laureates of the State Prize of Ukraine in science and technology, 1 Honored employee of the Higher School of Ukraine, 1 Honored Worker of Physical Culture and Sports of Ukraine, 4 Honored Workers of Education of Ukraine, 11 Honored Workers of Science and Technology of Ukraine, 21 Honored Doctor of Ukraine.In terms of the number of foreign students, the University is one of the leaders among higher medical educational institutions of Ukraine, which testifies to its high authority in the world market of educational services. Currently, 1,137 foreign citizens from almost 50 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and America are trained at the University, of which more than 80 percent study in English.Clinical training of students, interns and students of the Faculty of Postgraduate Education is carried out at 50 clinical departments, which are located in 155 departments of clinical bases in 50 treatment and prevention facilities in Lviv, as well as Lutsk, Rivne, Truskavets. All clinical bases have the necessary number of highly qualified specialists, a sufficient level of material and technical base and the necessary premises and agreements between the higher education institution and the treatment and prevention institution, which establish the forms of relationships, rights, duties and responsibilities of each party. The university also has its own clinical base - Dental Center with 1480 visits per shift.The teaching staff of clinical departments participates in surveys of socially vulnerable groups, residents of rural areas of Lviv, Volyn and Rivne regions. The University also cooperates with the Military Medical Clinical Center of the western region, Lviv Clinical Hospital of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, providing practical assistance in the treatment and rehabilitation of military and anti-terrorist operation participants. 

Employees of clinical departments perform complex surgical interventions, participate in the treatment of wounded, injured, organize scientific and practical conferences and joint meetings of the Association of Surgeons, Traumatologists, Anesthesiologists together with employees of the Military Medical Clinical Center of the western region.The Scientific Library of LNMU named after Danylo Halytsky is actively working, the actual direction of which is to increase the level of information service for users and expand the automation of library processes. The combination of traditional and electronic resources in a user-friendly way helps to maximize the satisfaction of information requests. The main information array of the library is about 650 thousand copies. For the purpose of full and operative formation of information resources the library uses traditional (printed) and electronic sources of current and retrospective information. Publications are searched every year and contacts are established with publishers to purchase specialized literature. To a large extent, the funds are replenished with publications of our scientists,The Council of Young Scientists of the University unites scientific and pedagogical workers of a certain age category. These include undergraduates, graduate students, clinical residents, degree seekers and candidates of medical sciences, assistants and associate professors under the age of 35. The joint efforts of the personnel department and the scientific department of the university formed a general register of young scientists of Danylo Halytsky LNMU, which included 314 people from all departments and divisions.Young scientists of the university participated in master classes on first aid, plastic surgery and healthy eating, Canadian-Ukrainian international scientific-practical conference "Topical issues of pediatric urology", a scientific symposium with international participation "Christmas readings". 

Together with the student scientific society, they organized and held "Science Days" with the participation of the Institute of Cell Biology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.With the participation of scientists of the University are published journals "Acta Medica Leopoliensia / Lviv Medical Journal", "Experimental and Clinical Physiology and Biochemistry", "News of Dentistry", "Hepatology", "Railway Medicine", "Implantology". Periodontology. Osteology "," Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmacotherapy and Medical Standardization "," World of Orthodontics "," Allergy in a Child "; collections of scientific works "Medical collection of NTSh" and "Actual problems of preventive medicine"; all-Ukrainian periodicals - newspapers "Alma Mater" and others.Scientists of the University work closely with fellow scientists in various fields of medicine and pharmacy. During the last year, in order to more actively integrate into the European research space, Danylo Halytsky LNMU continued cooperation with the Western Research Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Lviv State Center for Scientific, Technical and Economic Information.For many years LNMU has been implementing cooperation agreements in the field of science, education and student exchanges with Wroclaw Piast ШlÄ…skie Medical University (Poland), Karol Marcinkowski Medical University in PoznaÅ„ (Poland), Warsaw Medical University (Poland), Lublin Felix Skubiczewski (Poland), Gdansk Medical University (Poland), Jagiellonian University (Poland), Rzeszow University of Information Technology and Management (Poland), Maastricht University (Netherlands), National Cancer Institute, National Institute of Health (USA), Qatar University ( Qatar).For several years in a row, Danylo Halytsky LNMU together with Lille University of Science and Technology (France), Ruhr University in Bochum (Germany), Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (Germany), University of Gothenburg (Sweden): Graphenea (Estonia), LSO Medical (France), RS Research (Turkey) implements the project "Pathogen and Graphene (PANG)" of the competition H2020-MSCA-RISE-2015, co-financed by the European Union within the Research and Innovation Program "Horizon 2020"LNMU is a member of the Association for Regional Cooperation in Health, Science and Technology (The Accociation for Regional Cooperation in the fields of Health, Science and Technology - RECOOP HST Association).University scientists participate in international forums: symposia, congresses, conferences, workshops and meetings held in Austria, Bulgaria, Great Britain, Italy, Germany, Poland, Russia, Turkey, France, Croatia, Czech Republic, Ireland, Canada , Serbia, Hungary, Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, Switzerland, Argentina, the Netherlands, etc.Scientists of Danylo Halytsky LNMU are active members of European and international professional societies.
