Aravind Eye Hospitals & Post Graduate Institute of Ophthalmology is a Private medical College & hospital, Situated in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. Established in the year 1976 by Dr. Venkataswamy (A former Government Servant) under the GOVEL Trust. Hospital got its name on the name of one of the 20th century’s most revered spiritual leaders, Sri Aurobindo.

Dr. G. Venkataswamy started his 11-bed facility hospital in Madurai. Now, it turns 7 tertiary centres, 7 secondary centres, 6 community eye clinics and 80 vision centres and eye banks. Every year, In rural areas Aravind conducts around 2,500 free eye screening camps.
