SUMY STATE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY

The university enrolls about 14 thousand people in various forms of education at the primary, bachelor's, master's, educational and scientific and scientific levels in 55 specialties from 23 fields of knowledge .

 More than 1,750 foreign students from almost 50 countries study.Sumy State University is included in the World Higher Education World University Rankings   at 501-600 and 1-2 among Ukrainian universities. 

According to the University Impact Rankings from Times Higher Education, the university is among the top 300 universities in the world in terms of socio-economic impact. Sumy State University ranks 801+ in the ranking of the best research universities in the world in the field of engineering and technology.

According to the international ranking of higher education institutions QS World University Rankings Sumy State University is in the top group of 701-750 leading universities in the world, shares the fourth-fifth position among Ukrainian higher education institutions and is classified as a university with high research performance. 

The QS rating also ranked the university 101-150 among the world's "young" universities, which are "growing rapidly."For the fourth year in a row, Sumy State University confirms its leading position in the ranking of young universities from QS and entered the corresponding ranking from Times Higher Education. 

Currently, SSU is the only representative of Ukraine in this category of ratings.Sumy State University is included in the catalog of the best research universities in the world according to the Shanghai ranking .According to the international rating Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, SSU ranks 3rd among free economic zones of Ukraine, and also occupies high positions in the European rating U-Multirank , which identified most indicators of educational, extracurricular, international and other aspects of SSU as exceeding world values.

The University is the first in Ukraine to pass an independent external audit of QS in 2014 and received the highest marks (5 stars) in terms of quantity and quality of teachers, student satisfaction with the quality of education, learning conditions and accessibility, social orientation and E-learning.

SSU became the first Ukrainian university to be included in this ecological rating.According to the scientometric database Scopus, according to the number of citations by the world scientific community of publications of scientists of the university and the Hirsch-SSU index among the leaders of the scientific and educational space of Ukraine.In terms of the number of scientific and scientific-pedagogical workers who have five or more publications in publications indexed by Scopus databases and / or Web of Science Core Collection , SSU has one of the highest indicators among the Free Economic Zones of Ukraine.According to a study published by Webometrics , the university ranks 4th among Ukrainian universities in terms of citations of scientists in Google Scholar; SSU repository of scientific works occupies the first place among the Free Economic Relations of Ukraine and is among the TOP-40 best institutional repositories in the world, according to the Ranking Web of Repositories from Webometrics.

Sumy State University has a high position according to the results of the consolidated rating of domestic universities "Osvita.ua" and is among the top three universities in Ukraine according to the rating "TOP-200 Ukraine 2020" .In terms of the number of prizes in the All-Ukrainian competitions of student research papers, SSU has the highest indicator, and in terms of the number of prizes in the All-Ukrainian Olympiads in academic disciplines, areas of training, specialties, it is among the leaders among Ukrainian universities.The University is a signatory to the Grand Bologna Charter of Universities and the Taluar Declaration, a member of the International Association of Universities, the European University Association, the Association of Economic Universities of Southern and Eastern Europe and the Black Sea Region, the IREG International Observatory on International Education and Qualifications.Sumy State University cooperates with more than 280 partners from 50 countries , including the USA, Great Britain, Germany, Austria, France, Belgium, Sweden, Poland, Lithuania, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Japan, South Korea, China and other countries. world.SSU is a permanent partner in joint projects under international grant programs of the European Union (Erasmus +, Horizon 2020), the United Nations Development Program, NATO, DAAD, the American Councils, the British Council, bilateral research projects, grants from private foundations. 

The university implements more than 300 grants annually. Over the last 5 years, the volume of research work in the framework of international grant projects has increased 20 times.The University actively implements long-term and short-term programs of international academic mobility of students, graduate students, research and teaching staff with strong scholarship and grant support and with the active use of transfer technologies and recognition of results.The university has more than 3,000 employees, including corresponding members of the NAS of Ukraine, about 150 doctors of sciences, professors, about 700 doctors of philosophy and candidates of sciences, associate professors, doctoral studies in 16 specialties and postgraduate studies in 24 specialties, special dissertation councils.In terms of funding, both state budget research and scientific economic contracts and grants, the efficiency of the use of budget funds SSU has one of the highest indicators among the universities of Ukraine.Developed high-tech library information system, which contains more than 3 million copies on paper, electronic library with access to the most famous electronic information databases in the world information space. The University Library is the winner of the All-Ukrainian competition "Library of the Year" in the nomination "Large Libraries" in 2019.The Web of Science Core Collection indexes two scientific publications of the university: "Marketing and Management of Innovations" and "Nanomaterials: Applications and Properties".

 The latter and the Journal of Nano- and Electronic Physics are also indexed by the Scopus database .The university has a TOEFL center, resource and training centers Microsoft, Cisco, PortaOne, Delcam, Netcracker, Siemens, SAS, MindK, Apptimized Operations, Brocoders and others.The scientific infrastructure is developed, the centers of collective use, equipped with the modern scientific and technological equipment, in particular, created by the corresponding order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine function.40 sports are developed, almost 100 sports sections, sports teams of the top league and superleague work, more than 100 students are record holders and prize-winners of the Olympic Games, world championships, Europe, World Winter and Summer Universiades.The Ukrainian national team at the XXX Summer Olympic Games in London included three students and undergraduates, and at the XXII Winter Olympic Games in Sochi - six students and undergraduates from Sumy State University. At these games, they won three gold medals and a silver medal in biathlon, a bronze medal in boxing.More than 100 students have won about 200 awards at world and European championships and cups, the World Universiade and the Olympic Games. At the European University Games in 2018, SSU took first place among Ukrainian universities in the number of medals.Following the results of the First All-Ukrainian Winter Universiade in 2019, SSU won the title of champion, and at the All-Ukrainian Summer Universiade it is the leader in the corresponding category of free economic zones and is on the fourth position among all higher education institutions of Ukraine.The largest sports base among educational institutions of Ukraine:

the Palace of Student Sports - the Olympic base for training athletes of Ukraine, indoor beach volleyball complex, 2 stadiums, 3 swimming pools, 6 game halls, 5 gyms, 7 playgrounds, 2 shooting ranges, water rowing and ski base, country sports and recreation center "Universe".In 2016, the Ukrainian Academy of Banking joined SSU by reorganizing it, and in 2018 - Sumy State Research Institute of Mineral Fertilizers and Pigments. The university includes educational and scientific institutes: medical; Oleg Balatsky Finance, Economics and Management; business technologies "UABS"; rights; Konotop and Shostka institutes; faculties: electronics and information technologies, foreign philology and social communications, technical systems and energy efficient technologies; Konotop Industrial-Pedagogical and Classical Vocational Colleges, Sumy Machine-Building and Shostka-named Ivan Kozhedub Vocational Colleges, other structural subdivisions.
