Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) is a common admission test conducted every year for admission into Master of Science (M.Sc.) and other post-graduate science programs. It is conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology every year for admission to IITs and participating institutions.
It is a national-level online entrance examination. IIT JAM 2024 will offer admissions to around 3000 seats through CCMN counselling 2024. Every year, along with the IIT JAM, the participating institutes will also conduct entrance exams for candidates seeking admission to M.Sc and PG programmes.

Eligibility Criteria for JAM Exam
1. Nationality: Citizens from Indian states and foreign nationals.
2. Must have a degree in Bachelor’s in Science in any one of the following subjects – Geology, Biotechnology, Mathematics, Mathematical Statistics, Physics, Chemistry. Final-year candidates are also eligible to apply.
3. No minimum marks requirement to apply for JAM Exam.
4. Qualifying Degree with the Minimum Educational Qualifications (MEQs) as specified by the Admitting Institute should be submitted by September every year.
5. The Admitting Institute will determine the equivalence in the percentage of marks for candidates having letter grades/CGPA (instead of percentage of marks).
6. There is no limit on the number Of attempts to apply for the IIT JAM Entrance Exam 2022. A candidate may apply for the IIT JAM Exam as many times as they wish.
Application Form Process
IIT Madras has released the IIT JAM 2024 official Notification. The authorities will release IIT JAM 2024 Application form on September 05, 2023. The last date for IIT JAM Registration will be October 13, 2023.
The following steps must be followed by the candidates to fill out the IIT JAM application form.
1. Open the official website of IIT JAM 2024 – jam.iitm.ac.in.
2. After successful registration, an Enrollment ID will be sent to the registered email ID and Contact Number.
3. Candidates need to use their Enrollment ID and Password to log in to the website.
4. Fill in all the Personal details mentioned. Verify your email id and mobile number by entering the OTPs received.
5. Candidates need to submit their scanned images of photograph, signature, and SC/ST/PwD certificate.
6. After uploading the images, candidates need to pay the application fees.
7. In online mode, payment can be done through a debit/credit card or net banking account.
8. In offline mode, students need to carry the printout of the e-challan form and submit the application fee to SBI Bank.
9. After completing all steps of the application form, the candidate needs to take the printout of the application form for further use.
Application Fee
1. For one paper, the fees will be Rs 900 for reserved and female candidates, while for 2 papers, it will be Rs 1250. If we talk about the other category candidates, they will have to pay Rs 1800 for one paper and Rs 2500 for 2.
2. The candidates must note that the fees will have to be paid online via online payment methods such as UPI, Net Banking, credit/debit card, etc.
Documents Required
All shortlisted candidates who attend the counselling rounds must provide a list of documents. This is done to verify students before they enrol in the university. The list is provided below.

Exam Pattern for JAM Exam
1. Test Papers- Mathematical Statistics, Biotechnology, Geology, Chemistry, Economics, Mathematics, and Physics.
2. Exam mode: online
3. Exam duration: 3 hours
4. The number of questions is 60, with 30 in section A, 10 in section B, and 20 in section C.
5. Total Marks-The exam will be worth 100 points.
6. Negative Marking: Section A of the IIT JAM will have a negative marking.
Admit Card for JAM Exam
Candidates must enter their issued Enrollment ID/Email ID, password, security code, and other credentials in order to download their IIT JAM 2023 Admit Card. If a candidate forgets their enrollment ID or password, they can recover it by clicking the “Forget Enrollment ID or Password” button. Examine the information on the admit card carefully. If there is an error on the admit card, contact the appropriate authorities right away.
Counselling for the JAM Exam
If candidates qualify in more than one test paper, they must fill out only one admission form, as specified by the conducting authorities. After submitting the duly completed admission form for counselling, a processing fee of INR 600 is required.
When the admission form submission process is completed, the conducting body IIT Roorkee announces an admission list. Admission offer letters are sent to candidates by the colleges.
