History of Badminton
The history of the Badminton game is not very old. This game was played during British rule. British officers used to play a game similar to badminton which was called shuttlecock.

Around the year 1934, the foundation of the "Badminton World Federation" was laid and many rules of this game were made. About Badminton

Rules Of Badminton
1. In this game the toss is done first. The winner of the toss decides whether to serve first and which side to play.

3. The player can serve from the right or left corner. In the game, both the players stand diagonally from each other.

2. The width of the court is 6.1 meters or 20 feet. In singles matches, this is reduced to 5.18 meters, the length of the court being 13.4 meters or 44 feet.
3. The service line is determined on both sides at a distance of 1.98 from the net of the court.
4. During doubles, the service line is at a distance of 0.73 from the rear. Black thread is used in the court net.
Badminton Court Dimensions: Describing the parts and lines
Baseline
It is basically the backline at the boundary that is parallel to both the ends of the net. The length of the baseline is typically the overall width of the court.
Center line
A line that is perpendicular to the net and separates the left and right service court boxes down the middle is the centerline of the court.
Service Box
An area is formed by the centerline, baseline and singles sideline on singles match while on the doubles match, it is formed by the centerline, doubles sideline and doubles long service line.
Short service line
This line covers the width of the badminton court. It happens to be the nearest line running parallel to the net.
Doubles sideline
That covers the external boundary lines along with the baseline.
Singles sideline
A line running at the inner of the doubles sideline and parallel to it.
Alley
Alley is an area forming between the doubles and singles sideline. It is basically counted as the outer of the boundaries in a singles match.
Doubles long service line
The line designating the back service for doubles is the doubles long service line. It also covers the width of the court.
Postponement of the Game
The game may be suspended for a number of reasons. For example, if an incident occurs that is beyond the control of the player, and during this time if the umpire feels that suspension of the game is necessary, then the game can be postponed.
The referee notifies the Empire of the suspension of the game for any specific reason. When the game is postponed, the scores remain the same until the game is resumed from there.
