Post Matric Scholarship for Students with Disabilities 2022-23 is an initiative for students of Class 11 to the postgraduate level. The scholarship aims to help students with disabilities to pursue further education so that they could earn their livelihood and find a dignified place for themselves in society.
The Post-Matric Scholarship for Students with Disabilities (SwDs) is conducted by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disability (DEPD) under the Government of India in order to financially support disabled students in Post-graduate degree or Diploma courses recognized by AICTE or UGC.
Objectives of the Schemes
Scholarships under this scheme will be available for studying in classes IX, X, XI, XII, post-matriculation diploma/certificates and Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in India and Master’s Degree from any University recognized by UGC, to students with disabilities who are covered under the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunity, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995 and the National Trust for the Welfare of Persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities Act, 1999 and/or under any relevant legal statute in force.
To support students with disabilities to study further in order to prepare themselves to earn their livelihood and to find a dignified place for themselves in the society as they face several barriers physical, financial, psychological, and mental in pursuing studies and living with dignity. At times such students are deprived of harnessing their latent skills and thereby miss the opportunity.
Only Indian Nationals will be eligible for scholarships. Scholarship under the Scheme will be awarded by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disability, Government of India.
Eligibility Criteria for Post Matric Scholarship
1. Have passed matriculation or higher secondary or any higher exam of a recognized Board of Secondary Education or University.
2. Have more than 40% disability certified by the competent authority.
3. Have an annual family income of less than INR 2.50 lakh
4. Be pursuing post-secondary (class 11 to postgraduate level) courses in recognized institutions.
5. More than two persons with disability from the same family of the same parents are not encouraged to apply.
6. Scholars benefiting under any other Scheme are not eligible to apply.
7. Employed students with family income less than that of the Scholarship amount can apply for the Scheme.
8. Students who completed one stream and studying in the same stream (E.g. BA after B.Com.) are not eligible to apply.
Post Matric Scholarship for Students with Disabilities
Post Matric Scholarship for Students with Disabilities scheme is run by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Government of India. Under this scheme, all those students who have passed the 10th standard and taken admission further in any course will get the benefits.

Required documents
The following required documents should be uploaded while applying online at the portal
1. Photo of the Student
2. Student's previous year mark sheet
3. Admission fee receipt of current course year
4. Candidates' Age proof certificate
5. Family Annual Income certificate
6. Candidate Bank Passbook details
7. Candidate's disability Certificate more than 40% disability.
How can you apply for the Post-Matric Scholarship for Students with Disabilities?
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now button below.
Step 2: Read the guidelines carefully, select the undertaking, and 'Continue'.
Step 3: Select the state of domicile, scholarship category (Post Matric), scheme type (scholarship scheme), gender, and write the applicant's name, date of birth, mobile number, email ID.
Step 4: Provide the bank details (Bank name, IFSC Code, Account Number)
Step 5: Select Aadhaar or Bank Account Number as identification detail and click on the 'Register' button.
Step 6: The mobile number will be verified and an OTP will be generated.
Step 7: Now, log in using OTP and fill the form.
Step 8: An application ID and password will be generated. Use that for future references.
