NEET Counselling 2021: The Supreme Court in its verdict on Friday (January 7) upheld the validity of Other Backward Class (OBC) reservation in NEET PG and UG, and approved the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) quota for this year only.
The Apex Court has allowed counselling session to begin for both UG and PG courses. The apex court has upheld the 27 percent OBC quota. The top court also allowed 10 per cent EWS reservation for this year and for the upcoming years. The decision on EWS quota will be taken after the final hearing on March 3, 2022.
Advocate Divan argued that the rules of the game can not be changed midway as the NEET 2021 notification was released before the cente’s July 29 notification for EWS and OBC quota reservation. The doctor's association, Federation of Resident Doctors' Association (FORDA) has welcomed the judgement of honourable Supreme Court.
