The Medical Council of India (MCI) is a statutory body for establishing uniform and high standards of medical education in India. It was first established in 1934 under the Indian Medical Council Act, of 1933. As per the recommendation given by NITI Aayog, the Government took measures to replace MCI with National Medical Commission (NMC) in 2019.
Admission process for medical colleges in India
1. Admission to the top medical colleges in India takes place via various entrance exams. To appear for the following exams, the candidate must secure 60% marks in their class 12th exams with PCB subjects being mandatory.
2. National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG)- NEET UG is one of the most popular entrance exams conducted for admission to medical and dental education courses across public and private medical colleges in India.
3. The exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on the behalf of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
4. NEET UG exam is conducted only once every year, hence the students should remain particular about the timely submission of their applications.
The authority has released the NEET seat matrix 2022 for AIQ seats, B.Sc Nursing seats, AIIMS, JIPMER, AMU seats, ESIC insured person, deemed and central university seats. Based on the NEET seat matrix 2022, admission will be offered in MBBS/ BDS/ B.Sc Nursing courses through NEET 2022 Counselling.
