The Swami Vivekananda Scholarship, an initiative by the Higher Education Department of the Government of West Bengal, stands as a beacon of hope for countless students aspiring to achieve academic excellence. The Swami Vivekananda Scholarship, also known as Bikash Bhaban Scholarship.
It aims to help Meritorious students to continue their studies. The Swami Vivekananda Scholarship Scheme underwent comprehensive restructuring in 2016 to cover a larger number of students and enhance the scholarship amounts significantly.
Swami Vivekananda Scholarship Highlights
Eligibility Criteria for
1. Applicants must be domiciled in the state of West Bengal.
2. Students must be pursuing their studies in regular mode.
3. Class 11 and 12 from West Bengal Board of Secondary Education/West Bengal Council for Higher Secondary Education/Madrasa Education for Higher Secondary level.
4. Undergraduate level in Science/Arts/Commerce, Engineering, Medical and Technical/Professional courses from institutes approved by the AICTE and affiliated to West Bengal State Council of Technical & Vocational Education and Skill Development (WBSCTVE&SD).
5. Postgraduate level in Science/Arts/Commerce & Technical/Management courses from a recognised government institution from any State University or AICTE approved institutes of West Bengal.
6. M.Phil and Doctoral courses (NON-NET Junior Research Fellow and NET-Lectureship) from state-aided institutions.
7. Applicants must fulfill the specified academic requirements to be considered eligible under the scholarship scheme.
8. Total family income of the applicant should not be more than ₹2,50,000 per annum.
9. Female students of West Bengal who have scored 45% marks in aggregate any stream.
10. Students awarded under the scholarship scheme cannot concurrently receive any other government (Central/State) scholarship or stipend for the same course/stage of study.
Application Process
1. Applicants have to visit the official website https://svmcm.wbhed.gov.in/ and click on Registration button.
2. Select the appropriate option and procedure.
3. Fill out the SVMCM registration form and generate a unique Applicant ID for future logins.
4. Use Applicant ID to access the full SVMCM application form.
5. Provide all necessary details and upload scanned copies of your educational documents, photograph and signature.
6. Review application in view mode.
7. Click 'Submit Application' to finalize SVMCM scholarship application.
Documents Required to be uploaded for fresh application
1. Mark sheet of Madhyamik Examination or its equivalent (Both sides).
2. Mark sheet of last Board/Council/University/College examination (Both sides).
3. Admission receipt.
Income certificate of family (Not Applicable for Kanyashree).
4. Domicile certificate as Aadhaar ID/Voter ID/Ration card/Certificate Issued by concerned authority.
5. Scanned copy of Bank Passbook (1st Page, containing A/C No. and IFSC).
6. Declaration by Head of the Institution regarding the cause of Year Gap.
7. This option will appear only if the applicant selects Year of Qualifying Exam as or earlier while registration.
Documents to be uploaded for Renewal Application:
1. Copy of the Marksheet of the last examination in the present course of study. (Both sides and in case of semester examination system, both semester Marksheets).
2. Admission receipt for the promotion to the next higher class.
3. Format for Income Certificate is available under Downloads option in the Top menu in all pages.
Swami Vivekananda Scholarship Benefits
The amount to be received under the Swami Vivekananda scholarship scheme depends majorly on the course or the level of study that one is currently pursuing. Generally, this amount will vary from Rs. 1000 per month to Rs. 5000 per month.
