Types of SAIL Exams:
· SAIL Management Trainee (MT)
GATE-Based Recruitment:
For Management Trainee (Technical) posts, SAIL uses scores from the GATE exam (e.g., GATE 2024) to shortlist candidates for the subsequent stages.
Written Test-Based Recruitment: For Management Trainee (Administration) and other non-technical roles, SAIL conducts its own Computer Based Test (CBT) followed by a group discussion and interview.
· SAIL Operator-cum-Technician (OCTT):
This recruitment typically involves a Computer Based Examination followed by a Skill/Trade Test, which is only qualifying in nature.
Eligibility criteria for SAIL Exam
1. Candidates must be an Indian citizens.

General Selection Process for Management Trainees

· The final merit list is based on a combination of scores from the GATE exam, GD, and Interview, with a weightage typically of 75% for GATE, 10% for GD, and 15% for the Interview.
2. Own Written Test Based Selection (Non-Technical MTs):
· Candidates apply for a Computer Based Test (CBT).
· The CBT consists of a Domain Knowledge Test and an Aptitude Test.
· Candidates are shortlisted for Group Discussion and Interview based on their performance in the CBT.
· The final selection depends on the combined scores from the CBT, GD, and Interview, with a set weightage.
General Selection Process for Operator-cum-Technician
1. Computer Based Examination (CBE): Candidates take a CBE, and their scores determine their shortlisting.
