The IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) is a national-level entrance examination conducted annually in India for admission to various undergraduate science programs. It serves as the sole gateway to the 5-year BS-MS Dual Degree Programs offered by the seven Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs).
Additionally, it facilitates entry into specific programs at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras.
Admission to undergraduate science programs, including:
1. 5-year BS-MS Dual Degree Programs at IISERs
2. 4-year BS Degree Program in Economic Sciences and B.Tech at IISER Bhopal
3. 4-year BS Degree Program in Economic and Statistical Sciences at IISER Tirupati
4. 4-year BS Degree Program at IIT Madras
5. 4-year BS (Research) Degree Program at IISc Bangalore.
Eligibility Criteria for IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) Exam
1. Nationality: Indian nationals, OCI (Overseas Citizens of India), PIO (Persons of Indian Origin), and foreign nationals are eligible.
Foreign nationals must upload an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities unless they passed Class XII from a COBSE-recognized board.
2. Educational Qualification: Must have passed Class XII (or equivalent) in the science stream in 2023, 2024, or 2025.
Must have studied at least three of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology.
3. General/OBC-NCL: 60% aggregate in Class XII.
4. SC/ST/PwD: 55% aggregate in Class XII.
5. Students from Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) in Kashmir division/Winter Zone areas of Jammu division and Ladakh who appeared in Dec 2022 are eligible if they meet other criteria.
6. Kashmiri Migrants must upload a valid domicile certificate.
7. Candidates awaiting Class XII results in 2025 can apply, but admission is contingent on meeting eligibility criteria.
8. There is no age limit for applicants.
9. Candidates can attempt the IAT a maximum of three times in consecutive years.
Admission Process
Prospective applicants should regularly check the official website for announcements regarding application deadlines, examination dates, and other pertinent details to ensure timely and accurate information.
1. Register on the official website (iiseradmission.in) with basic details (name, email, etc.).
2. Fill out the application form with personal, academic details, and exam center preferences (up to 8 choices).
3. Upload required documents (e.g., Class XII marksheet, photo ID, category certificate if applicable).
4. Pay the application fee online (amount TBD; for reference, past fees were around INR 2,000 for General category).
5. Download the application for records.
6. A one-time correction window is provided post-submission.
Application Fee
₹2,000 for General/General-EWS/OBC/OBC-NCL (Central List) candidates.
₹1,000 for SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender/Kashmiri Migrants (KM) candidates.
How to download Admit Card for IISER Aptitude Test (IAT)?
1. Download: Available on iiseradmission.in using login credentials.
2. Details: Includes candidate name, exam date/time, center address, and instructions.
3. Requirement: Mandatory to carry to the exam center along with a valid photo ID.
4. Conducted across various cities in India.
5. Candidates select preferred centers during registration; allocation depends on availability.
Results and Ranking
Result Declaration: Expected in July every year (exact date TBD).
Ranking: Based on total marks out of 240. Not all candidates receive a rank; a cutoff is announced later.
Answer Key: Provisional key released on May 25, 2025, post-exam; final key after objection period.
Counselling and Admission
From 2024 onwards, admission to IISERs is exclusively through the IAT. The JEE Advanced and KVPY channels are no longer available for IISER admissions.

2. Preferences: Candidates submit IISER preferences post-results.
3. Seat Allocation: Based on rank, seat availability, and preferences.
4. Seat Acceptance Fee: Required to confirm admission (amount TBD).
