Overview

An ECIL exam refers to the recruitment process for jobs at the Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL), a government-owned company. There are different ECIL exams, but the Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) exam is a common one, involving a two-stage process: a Computer Based Test (CBT) and a Personal Interview. The exam covers core engineering subjects, has negative marking for incorrect answers, and requires an overall score of at least 60% for selection.

Eligibility Criteria to appear in ECIL (GET) Exam

1.     Candidate must have completed a four-year full-time Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an AICTE-recognized institute or university. 

2.     Candidate must have scored a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate for Unreserved category candidates. For SC/ST candidates, the marks requirement is 50%. 

3.     Electronics, Instrumentation, Computer Science/IT, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, and Chemical Engineering are common eligible branches. 

4.     Dual/combination degrees in areas like Automobile Engineering or Mechatronics are not eligible, and no equivalent qualifications are accepted. 

ECIL Exam pattern for GET

The selection process for Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) consists of two main stages: a Computer-Based Test (CBT) and a personal interview.

Stage 1: Computer-Based Test (CBT)

The written examination is a multiple-choice-question (MCQ) type test that assesses the candidate's core engineering knowledge. 

Exam structure

·        Mode: Online (Computer-Based Test)

·        Duration: 120 minutes (2 hours). An additional 20 minutes per hour is allotted for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates.

·        Total questions: 100 MCQs

·        Total marks: 100 marks

·        Marking scheme:

o   Correct answer: +1 mark

o   Incorrect answer: -0.25 marks

·        Language: English and Hindi

·        Syllabus: The questions are based on core engineering subjects specific to the candidate's discipline.

The exam focuses on a candidate's specific engineering discipline, which may include subjects such as:

·         Analog Devices and Circuits

·         Network Theory and Circuit

·         Signal System

·         Control System

·         Analog and Digital Communication System

·         Electromagnetic Theory (EMT)

·         Electronic Measurement and Instrumentation

·         Semiconductor and Material Science

·         Computer Organization and Architecture

·         Basic Electrical Machine Engineering

Stage 2: Personal interview

Based on the performance in the CBT, a limited number of candidates (in a ratio of 1:4) are shortlisted for a personal interview. The interview is generally held in Hyderabad. 

Final selection criteria

The final merit list is prepared based on a combination of the CBT and interview performance, with specific weightage assigned to each stage.

·        CBT weightage: 85%

·        Personal interview weightage: 15%

·        Minimum qualifying marks: Candidates must achieve at least 50% in both the CBT and the personal interview. The combined score must be at least 60% to be considered for final selection.

Steps to Apply Online

1.     Visit the ECIL Website: Go to the official Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) website, which is www.ecil.co.in. 

2.     Find Careers Section: On the homepage, locate and click on the "Career" tab. 

3.     Select Current Openings: Under the "Careers" section, click on the "Current Job Openings" or "Current Job openings for advertisement details" link. 

4.     Find the GET Advertisement: Look for the advertisement for the Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) position and click on the link to view more details. 

5.     Start the Application: On the job details page, find and click the link that says "Click here to apply for the posts". 

6.     Register (If New User): If you are a new user, complete the one-time registration by providing basic details like your name, email ID, and mobile number to set up a password. 

7.     Log In and Fill Application: Log in using your temporary ID and Date of Birth, then proceed to fill out the complete application form. 

8.     Provide Details: Enter your personal information, educational qualifications, and any work experience. 

9.     Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies of your recent passport-size photograph and signature. 

10.                         Pay Application Fee: Pay the application fee online through the payment portal. 

11.                         Submit Application: Preview your application and submit it for future reference.
