Air Force Common Admission Test is a written exam conducted by Indian Air Force twice every year to induct officers in the IAF. The written exam is followed by Air Force Selection Board Interview for shortlisted candidates. The exam is held twice a year, in February and August/September, respectively.
AFCAT is a gateway for both male and female candidates who wish to join the Indian Air Force for both Short Service Commission in Flying Branch and Permanent Commission/Short Service Commission in Ground Duties for both Technical and Non-Technical roles.
Candidates are selected based on their performance in the online exam and Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) interview. Candidates opting for Ground Duty (Technical) branches are required to appear in both AFCAT and Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT).

AFCAT Eligibility Criteria
Candidates are required to meet the AFCAT eligibility criteria set up by the conducting body.
1. Flying Branch – Age should lay between 23 years at the time of course commencement. The candidate must be a Graduate (Minimum three-year degree course) in any discipline from a recognized University who have attained a minimum 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together and have passed Maths and Physics at 10+2 level OR BE / B Tech degree (Four-year course) from a recognized University with minimum 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together.
2. Technical Branch- The age must lay between 18 to 28 years at the time of course commencement. For details on education, candidates can refer to the advertisement.
3. Ground Duty Branch - The age must lie between 20-23 years for Graduates, 20-25 years for Post Graduates, 20-26 years for LLB (Three-year course after graduation) and 20-27 years for M.Ed/Ph.D./CA/ICWA. For details on education qualification, you can refer to the official advertisement.
How to Apply Online for AFCAT 1 2022?
1. Go to the official website of the Indian Air force.
2. Now, go to the tab – ‘Career’.
3. Click on the section – ‘Candidates Login’.
4. A new web page will appear on the screen. Fill in the registration details including - E-mail ID, Mobile Number, etc.
5. Click on the bottom ‘Submit’. A new AFCAT Registration ID and Password would be sent to the registered Email address.
AFCAT Admit Card 2022
The AFCAT Admit Card 2022 will be available on the official website of the IAF soon in PDF format. The applicants are required to visit the IAF official website to download their admit card from the website.
AFCAT 2022 Exam Pattern
1. The exam will be the objective type where a Total of 100 MCQ questions will be asked. If applying for Technical Branch EKT, there will be a Total of 50 MCQ questions.
2. There will be four sections- Numerical Ability, Reasoning, and Military Aptitude Test, Verbal Ability, and General Awareness.
3. For EKT, Three sections will be there- Mechanical, Electronics, and Computer Science.
4. Total marks for AFCAT will be 300 and for EKT, it will be 150.
5. There will be a penalty of 1 mark for each wrong answer and three marks will be given for the correct answer.
6. The total duration of the exam will be 2 hours for AFCAT and 45 minutes for EKT.

AFCAT Results 2022
AFCAT Result is declared online in a PDF format on the IAF website for candidates. Those who have appeared in the AFCAT exam have to login into their account by entering the Password, Captcha Code and a valid Email ID.
The result PDF mentions the section-wise marks, qualifying status, cutoff marks and overall marks. Based on the AFCAT result, qualified candidates are called for AFSB/SSB interviews.
