Diplomate of National Board (DNB) Doctorate of National Board is the title awarded by the National Board of Examinations (NBEMS) to candidates who successfully complete their postgraduate or postdoctoral medical education under it.
The National Board of Examinations is an autonomous body directly under the control of the Central Government. NBE was established in 1975 by the Government of India for improving the quality of Medical Education by establishing high and uniform standards of postgraduate examinations in modern medicine on an all-India basis.
There are separate courses for different medical fields which can be divided into Two Categories – DNB (Broad Specialities) and DNB (Super Specialities). The Age limit to pursue a DNB (Broad Specialities) course is up to 50 years).
The duration of the course is 3 years of training/part-time (minimum 20 hrs per week in 3 years). During training, DNB candidates perform clinical work, maintain records, and perform emergency duties and other required duties.

Eligibility Criteria for DNB
1. Candidates should have passed a medical degree from Foreign Universities and possess a permanent registration certificate issued by the Medical Council of India/State Medical Council and have completed 1 year of internship on or before the last date of submission of the application form.
2. Those who have qualified for their MBBS degree or equivalent examination with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks are eligible for admission.
3. Those with a medical degree possessing a permanent registration certificate issued by MCI of India can pursue the program.
4. Candidates who must have passed DNB-CET or CET-NBE (for DNB Broad Specialist) are eligible for admission.
5. Candidates who have passed MBBS from foreign universities can also seek admission.
6. They should have completed their one-year rotating internship Candidates should not be more than 50 years of age for seeking admission to Diplomate National Board (DNB) program.
Admission Process
Step 1- Registration: In this step, students need to create an account by entering basic details like email-id, phone number, etc.
Step 2- Application Form: Fill out the application form with all necessary details. Care must be taken to ensure all details are accurate and correct.
Step 3- Uploading of Documents: Scan and upload all requisite documents like mark sheets, photographs,s and signatures. Documents need to be uploaded in a specific format only, as specified by the institute’s application portal.
Step 4- Payment of Application Fees: Candidates have to pay the application fees either online or offline.
Step 5 - Downloading of Admit Card: Admit cards are released once all applicants are judged for eligibility. The admit card must be downloaded and printed out to be used on the day of the examination.
Step 6 - Entrance Exam: Prepare for the exam as per the syllabus and past papers. Appear for the examination on the date announced.
Step 7 - Results: Results are announced after a couple of weeks of the exam day. If a candidate is successful in qualifying for the entrance examinations, they can move on to the next round.
Step 8 - Counseling/ Personal Interview and admission: Counseling or PI is held for students who have cleared the entrance examinations. The student can now take admission in the DNB course.
